Surviving Colic: What Helped Us Through the Sleepless Nights
When the Crying Doesn’t Stop There’s tired—and then there’s colic tired. The kind of tired that makes you forget what day it is, cry over spilled breast milk, and Google “baby exorcism” at 3 a.m. (kidding… mostly).
Our baby started showing signs of colic just a few weeks in. The screaming would start in the late afternoon and stretch into the night. Nothing soothed her. Not rocking, not feeding, not even the car ride trick. We were exhausted, overwhelmed, and honestly, a little broken.
What Finally Helped After trying everything short of hiring a baby whisperer, we found a combo that actually made a difference:
1. The MamaRoo Swing
This wasn’t just a swing—it was a lifeline. The MamaRoo mimics real human motions (like bouncing and swaying), and it gave our arms a much-needed break. The Bluetooth feature let us control it from across the room, which felt like luxury in the chaos.
2. The Babocush Pillow Attachment
This was the game-changer. The Babocush attaches to the MamaRoo and holds your baby in a tummy-down position with gentle vibrations and a heartbeat sound. It’s designed to relieve gas, colic, and reflux—and in our case, it actually did. Our baby would go from red-faced and rigid to calm and drowsy in minutes.
3. Frida Baby Gas + Colic Heating Pad Bundle
This little bundle of warmth became part of our nightly routine. The click-to-activate heating pad tucked into a soft wrap and helped soothe her belly. It didn’t fix everything, but it took the edge off—and when you’re running on fumes, that’s everything.
The Emotional Toll Colic isn’t just hard on babies—it’s hard on parents. The guilt, the helplessness, the constant second-guessing. If you’re in the thick of it, please know: you’re not doing anything wrong. Some babies just have a rougher start, and it will get better.
Final Thoughts If you’re navigating the colic storm, I see you. It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to need help. And it’s okay to lean on tools that make life a little easier. For us, the MamaRoo + Babocush combo and the Frida colic bundle were more than just baby gear—they were sanity savers.
XOXO,
Meg
